Antique Very Old Carving Knife 8.5" Made By "PRICE"

Description: Antique Very Old 8.5", Handmade Carving Knife, By Price, With Smooth Bone Handle. Blade is 8.5", overall length is Approx, 14.5". Blade is Hi-Carbon steel, Handle is smooth bone nogent handle, meaning one pin through the back of handle. Blade has scratches, marks, and stains, from years of use. Blade is very worn. Blade has a slight bow to it, pictures will show. Blade also has scratches, from sharpening. Smooth bone handle has 2 cracks on one side, and 1 long crack, and a shorter crack, traveling from the pin location. Blade is very sharp. I have done a lot research, and the conclusion, I have come up with is I am 90% sure this knife was made by famous knife maker Micheal Price, from San Francisco, California, from the 1850's to 1880's. He migrated from Limerick Ireland, he was taught the craft of knife making by his father. Which later his father joined him in California. His blades were handmade. At that time he was known throughout, to be the best knife maker in California. His signing on the knife was M.Price San Francisco and was slightly curved. The knife I have only has Price, and is also slightly curved. The capital letters match his style. I do believe the rest of the writing has been worn away, because of how the blade is so worn. The silver collar has not been tested, but I wouldn't doubt it to be Coin silver. All the carving knives that I have seen, made by him, has this style blade and handle. This knife could also have been a early piece, I just don't know. Mr. Dunn has had this knife for many, many years. Mr. Dunn would want it to go to someone who would really appreciate it, And it would look very nice in a glass show case. You just don't see things like this everyday.
