Description: FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION WE OFFER THIS ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SCOTTISH BROOCH. IT IS MARKED ONLY EPNS (ELECTROPLATED NICKEL SILVER). IN VICTORIAN TIMES THE SCOTTISH THISTLE WAS VERY POPULAR IN JEWELRY MAKING. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A HUGE CITRINE BUT AMBER GLASS WAS MOSTLY USED WITH THE THISTLE JEWELRY. IT POLISHED NICELY AND HAS LITTLE, IF ANY DARK AREAS. THERE IS A VICTORIAN C CLASP WHICH WORKS WELL. ONE PRONG SITS ASKEW AND DOES NOT HUG PROPERLY BUT THE STONE IS NOT LOOSE. I THINK THIS WOULD BE AN EASY FIX. THERE ARE SOME NICKS ON THE UNDER EDGES OF THE STONE WHICH ONLY SHOW UNDER CLOSE EXAMINATION. OVERALL--VERY NICE CONDITION. THE BROOCH IS 1 1/2" IN DIAMETER AND SITS 3/4" HIGH. HAPPY BIDDING ON THIS BEAUTY.
