The nickel arms and much of the brass has been polished, while some of the original patina has been preserved as well for an amazing antique look. It has been freshly rewired and is working well and ready to hang and enjoy. As it is an antique original, it does have a few normal "imperfections" like a tiny ding here or there, a small ding on the edge of the center glass which isn't noticeable (see closeup) and a few small holes in the brass on the top of the saucer that had bolts that are no longer necessary - not noticed when hung and in use. The switch changes these lighting options: the 5 arm bulbs on, the center downward light on, or all on together.
