The Erdmann Schlegelmilch Porcelain Factory was established in Suhl, Thuringia, Germany by Leonard Schlegelmilch and his two brothers in 1861. The name was chosen in honor of their father, Erdmann. Leonard died in 1899, and the business was overtaken by his son, Julius Martin. It gradually grew until the beginning of the WWI. Though the business declined thereafter, the factory continued production until the Great Depression. The factory closed in 1937. And now on to this listing ... This listing is for a stunningly beautiful hand painted porcelain console bowl depicting life-life peach trees with branches, blooms, leaves, and ripe fruit. The detailed realism is incredible. No maker's mark, but my research shows this is almost certainly a Prov Saxe ES piece. Signed by the artist down inside the bowl. (Looks like C. Vogeloy or C. Vogelog or C. Vogel.og ... something like that). Measures 12" X 7" X 4 1/4". Exceptionally fine condition with no chips, cracks, or unusual wear with one point of note: there is a rough spot on the rim that looks like someone put a teeny tiny dab of well-matched green paint on it. (See close up photo). It's hard to be sure, but this may well be a shallow glaze chip that was well disguised. Only you will know it's there. Rest assured that this piece will be the focal point of your room, and people will be commenting on it. Will be wrapped with care and shipped with GOBS of packing material.
