Description: The superb 1/72 diecast Soviet Air Force Lavochkin La-7 flown by Ivan Kozhedub, USSR, 1945.Born in 1920, Ivan Kozhedub learned to fly with an aero club before joining the Soviet Army in 1940. His outstanding WWII career as a fighter pilot earned him numerous outstanding awards and he was one of the few pilots to shoot down a Messerschmitt Me 262 jet. His record included 330 combat missions, 120 aerial engagements and he was credited with shooting down 62 enemy aircraft. He died in 1991 aged 71.It is from the Atlas "Fighters of World War II" series. The models & stands are the same as those released under the IXO brand some years ago, so I'm pretty sure that this series have been made by IXO for Atlas Editions. The plane is predominantly made from metal & has many small detail accessories, & inter-changeable undercarriage parts. The model measures 4 3/4" (120mm) in length & has a wingspan of 5 1/4" (133mm), & is presented in a vac-form "sandwich" & outer card box.It is new, mint & boxed.
