Description: This item is either an authentic early Native American Tool, made for Food / Meat preparation or was used in hunting as in: a throwing club... Possible used also to kill animals downed in the field or... once in captivity such as cattle or others. In any case, it is a rare find... coming out of the mountains in Western North Carolina originally, then having been kept in a serious collection for many years until I acquired part of the collection. The condition is fantastic. It weighs an impressive 5 Lbs 5 Oz ... measuring 15 5/8 inches in length by 4 inches wide by 2 " (the handle), and made entirely of stone. It is certainly handmade, having taken an enormous amount of work and time to achieve this shape. This highly desirable piece is a cultural representation of very early Native Americans. I do not know its age or what period it is associated with, but you experts out there may have a better degree of knowledge about this type of artifact. The hammer's unique design and condition make it a museum-quality item. It has a great historical value that represents the culture and traditions of our early true Native AmericansThis piece of collectible is perfect for anyone interested in Native American history and culture, and it is an excellent addition to any collection.
