Description: Introducing the Bambu Labs Printer XY gantry square tool! This device can be used to check or fix most printing issues caused by incorrect belt or gantry alignment. This is the culmination of a lot of work from multiple people and the end result is that you HAVE to have an external tool to correct printer misalignment. You can't make a straight tool on a crooked printer, it will only compound your problems. There are a great number of reasons you may need this tool. Uneven belt tension, any kind of misalignment from bumps while moving or shipping the unit and all kinds of layer related problems or even simply square prints not being square - for example printing a calibration cube and it is wider in the X than the Y. I have seen some P1P frames (frames! not just the gantry!) knocked out of alignment by as much as 4mm when people go to install acrylic enclosure panels that I also sell. My printer, and a friend of mines printer showed up from the factory with slight misalignments of the XY gantry which caused minor surface finish issues. I also made mine worse by tensioning the belts tighter in accordance with the Bambu wiki! By tightening the belts even more, it caused the X and Y bars to flex out of alignment even more making the issues even worse. The development of this tool has solved all of these issues for multiple people now, and I am happy to offer them up to the community. The way it works is - First you MUST power off the machine and you MUST loosen your belts. (This is covered in the official wiki here : https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/x1/maintenance/belt-tension )The plastic clips must be placed into their proper location as indicated on the triangular part so as to match the units in the photos. These plastic clips will snap onto the silver Y axis bars running along both sides of the XY gantry stage. It works equally well from either side and I suggest checking the alignment from both sides after adjustment. This leaves the flat "base" of the tool to square up against your carbon rods forcing the whole assembly into perfect 90 degree squareness. At this point if it turns out your gantry was square from the start and this tool confirms it, you will still need it later on to solve other problems like skew adjustment. I found it easier to use small clamps with soft rubber feet (you MUST use something soft so as to not damage your carbon rods!) and hold the X stage against the base with clamps while the Y stage was snapped into the bar using my clips. While in this condition you are able to work on your belts and tensioning while keeping the gantry square no matter what. There are several different things you must check when working on your belts, including an even amount of tension between them and also making sure they are not "skewed" causing either belt to run high or low and rub against one of the pulleys or wheels. There are a great set of tension adjustment tools and skew adjustment tools designed by Patrick Cruse that can be printed from this printables page : https://www.printables.com/model/459456-bambu-lab-printer-x-y-squareness-check-adapters/files that make this a lot easier. You may need to take the square tool off and on several times to confirm the belts are tensioned and skew adjusted correctly, then use it one last time to make sure everything is still a square 90 degrees after all belt adjustment tools are removed. Once that process is done, run your calibration program again and you are off to the races! The amount of wiggle room you have between the carbon rods and the base of the square tool before making the adjustments will be a good indicator of how much of a problem you had and how much of a correction you made. I DO provide the plastic clips you see in my photos - in the event your printer isn't printing well I wont make you struggle with getting the clips printed. I am available for questions and will help with what I can but printing inconsistencies is a very complex issue with countless possible causes and there's no guarantee everyone has similar solutions or even similar problems.
