Description: This large footstool was made by The Biggs Antique Company of Richmond Virginia. Biggs started in 1890 as a antique shop selling colonial antique furnishings to the owners of the new mansions being built on Monument Avenue in Richmond and the surrounding areas of the countryside in Virginia. Biggs became known as one of the great reproduction furniture companies in the country. Having been part of several companies such as General Interiors and later as part of Kittinger Company of New York in the end, they were shut down in 1990 by Kittinger and then Kittinger closed down in 1992. The footstool is from the mid 1920's [see tags]. It was known by two different names over the 100 years Biggs was in business. It was first called the "Colonial Ottoman", then "O G Ottoman" and then later called the "Ogee Ottoman". It comes with a box spring seat and is hair filled. The wood is made out of mahogany and is in great condition for its age. Each leg has a wheel for easy movement. The measurements are 20 1/2 inches wide, 16 3/4 inches deep and about 15 inches tall.
