Description: Black & Rose/Pink Marble Onyx Stone Hand Carved Aztec-Style Chess Set and Matching 15” Board! The color-matching of this set, both the pieces to each other and to the color of the board, is unsurpassed. Very hard to find sets that are this well color-matched. This set is very heavy. The board weighs 16 lbs and the pieces weigh an additional 5.72 lbs for a combined total of just under 22 lbs, without shipping/packing materials. The tallest pieces are 4” tall and shortest pieces are 2” tall. The board is not scratched, but I did see two slight mars, see really close up photos of those. There is what “appears” to be a scratch, cutting across a2 to b2, but it is under their finishing process and feels smooth to the touch. See closeup photos. The back of the board shows that the stones used to create the board are thick and not just mounted to wood to appear thick from the top. The back of the board is unpolished and there are visible signs of their manufacturing process, such as stone imperfections, adhesive, and some type of final sand/grind marks. It is level and sits squarely. The white king and three pawns have suffered very slight injuries, but I want to point them out. The 3 pawns are grouped together in one photo, see close up photo. Separate close up photos of white king. Given the “Aztec” cuts of the pieces themselves, I don’t notice the injuries when the board is set up, but if they bother you, do not buy this set. I do not know where it was before that or how old it actually is. This set will ship in an old Sony box, given its size & weight.
