Blacksmith Forged Bushcraft/Skinning Belt Knife Stag Handle W/ Leather Sheath

Description: These outstanding knives are handmade exclusively for Bushcraft Supply by one of our good friends. The maker hand forges these from 5160 spring steel with fire and hammer then grinds them to shape all by hand. The handles are locally harvested antler from Arkansas and the fasteners are aluminum. The tang is a rat tail style, fastened with a nut at the end of the handle and sanded smooth. These knives are completely made in the traditional way and are finished with a hand stitched sheath. The knife and the sheath are finished enough to be functional, but left with enough tooling and hammer marks to really bring out the traditional character of the materials. The unrefined look adds to the charm of these blades and harken back to times when function was valued and a well used tool was considered beautiful. These are truly handmade products, made in America, by the hands of an American and will come to you razor sharp and a blackened patina applied to the blade. This knife has a 4.5" Blade and is 8.5" overall. The blade is 1" wide and made from 1/8" stock. The edge is a full convex edge and comes extremely sharp. This type of edge improves the toughness of the edge and allows for a thin razor sharp edge. Bear in mind, these are made of carbon steel and will show signs of rust from being in the sheath. This does not harm the knife at all, but does require a bit more attention than stainless steel. The tradeoff is added toughness and ability to add a very fine edge. Therefore these knives will come with a coat of oil on the blade and we suggest you always keep the blade dry and oiled when in the sheath. Knife is SHARP! Please handle with care.
