Description: Boy Scouts LS Shirt w/2nd Class Badge & Merit Badges & Scarf w/BSA Slide VTG For sale here are an official long sleeve Boy Scouts shirt and a fringed scarf/neckerchief with a BSA slide. Sewn into the shirt is a label with the BSA Official Shirt, c. 1940s, and Official Boy Scout Seal designations. All of the buttons are a dark brown plastic. All but the very top and bottom buttons have the BSA emblem on them. There is a “BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA” patch over the right chest pocket. A square cloth badge with the Second Class insignia has been hand-sewn onto the left chest pocket. The left sleeve has patches that say “DENVER” and “COLO.” in red and (troop no.) “196” in white on red. The right sleeve has a round, red patch with a black eagle, black “B.S.A.” and black outline. There are four early, round merit badges sewn onto the lower part of the right sleeve (cooking, safety, home repairs and book binding). There is no obvious damage to this shirt. The size is not indicated but since kids were thin back when this shirt was new, it would probably fit an 8-10 year old boy. The scarf/neckerchief appears to be homemade. It is made of red pinwale corduroy with tan-colored fringe. It is adorned with a homemade (troop no.) 196 badge. It is fastened in front with a dark silver tone metal slide that resembles a knot, overlaid with the BSA emblem (c. 1940s). Some of the stitching on the back corner of the scarf has come undone. Other than one small, darkish stain on the right front shoulder, it is otherwise clean and in good repair. Pre-owned. Conditions described above. From the estate of our Uncle Paul, born in 1927, who collected all kinds of things in Denver, Colorado, from the mid-1950s until his untimely death in the mid-1980s.
