Description: This listing is for the old oil painting you see in photos. I purchased it at an estate sale in Oregon where I was not told it's history. I do not know how old it is. From its general appearance, I am guessing that it is from the first half of the 20th century. Maybe, 1930's or 1940's. I leave it to the buyer to decide how old it is. It is signed in the bottom left hand corner e Ward. . There is an inscription in pencil on the reverse paper backing but it's a bit difficult to read but I believe that it should be read "Brush Creek by E Ward Shenk Original". So I do not know the last name of the artist is Shenk or Ward. Also, a "j" and an "M" appear to be written above the signature in the painting. I leave it to the buyer to decide who the artist is. "No. 36" is also written in pencil on the paper on the reverse. Since I purchased it in Oregon., and it looks like it could be a scene in Oregon and there is a Brush Creek in Oregon I am thinking that it is an Oregon painting. I leave it to the buyer to decide where it was painted. The wooden frame measures close to 27 1/4 by 15 inches. The canvas board that the painting is on measures close to 23 3/4 by 11 3/4 inches. The framed painting weighs close to 2 pounds 6 ounces. The condition is much like you see it in the photos. The backside of the frame has irregularities and discoloration in the finish. The top side of the frame is nearly perfect with a tiny chip in the surface and a tiny dent . The paper backing on the frame is a showing some exposure to time and the elements. There is a very slight warp to the board so that it appears very slightly higher in the center area. That is not easy to see. The painting is in excellent condition with no cracks or paint loss or damage. Painting and frame might benefit from a light cleaning. Otherwise painting and frame are fine and as shown. The photos should give you a good idea of the general condition of the frame and painting. I guarantee this painting to be as described and represented by the photos. The photos are part of the description; please look at all of them. I allow three business days for shipping, but I usually ship the same or next day if possible. Please note that the lighting in my photos is uneven, and there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors; different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs "approximately" because no measurements are exact, and some things are difficult to measure.I like to leave feedback after I know that the item has arrived and that the buyer is satisfied. I reserve the right to cancel any bids without explanation. I sometimes purchase signature delivery for my more valuable packages because of the possibility of them being stolen off of a porch or damaged by weather. I often, but not always, ship the same or next day. Often, I have a double-walled box custom made for larger items, which might result in a short delay. When I use packing peanuts, they are usually made from biodegradable materials. Please email me with any questions or suggestions. I do not ship on weekends, and I might not be available to answer emails on weekends. Thanks for looking at my ad.
