During the Hundred Years' War, Charles VII resided there (1422-37), and Joan of Arc wintered there (1429-30)..The colorful and elaborate title cartouches further enhance the map.Blaeu was founder of the leading 17th century Dutch cartographic firm. “The achievements of the firms of Blaeu were remarkable, & the palm for supremacy in map production in any age must be awarded to the Blaeu” (Tooley: Maps & Map-Makers, p. 33). This is an original map about 390 years old, not a reproduction. It is in nice antiquarian condition as seen in the photos. Center fold as issued. Verso (back) is Latin text.
