Description: Southeast Asian Cambodian Khmer bronze Buddha. 12-13 century Angkor periodThis bronze is beautifully proportioned. The face of the Buddha is radiant, a triumph of the ancient designer. The design is typical of the period, based on compatible earlier Indian designs mainly of the Chola period. The bronze patina is deep red to green, with some dark, almost brownish-black inclusions. There are age cracks to the bronze. There is some incrustation to the ears and the arms. Some small parts of the base are missing yet do not hinder the bronze stability.
