Gleichmacher is the ultimate cutting compound that removes the most severe defects. Whether you are trying to remove 800 grit sanding marks, oxidation, heavy swirl marks, or severe scratches, Gleichmacher makes your job that much easier. Gleichmacher is a very rare cutting compound because of its finishing abilities. Many of the compounds available on the market leave the painted surface dull, requiring intensive polishing to restore the surface.Gleichmacher cuts extremely “hard,” extremely fast, and leaves a near polished look to the surface. If polishing is needed, a light polish such as our Lightweight 1500 or our Flash Knockdown can be used to finesse the surface further. Using Gleichmacher can save you time by eliminating the need to follow up with many different polishing levels to remove any “light” remaining defects. This cutting/polishing compound is the perfect solution for the most severely neglected vehicles. This solution pairs well with a foam buffing pad or a wool pad. It is important to note that it is impossible to state which pad to pair any polishing or compounding product with since the exterior surface defects will differ, and more importantly, each manufactures clear coat can range from “soft” to “hard,” making this impossible to color code or state which product should be used with a certain pad. We always recommend starting with the least aggressive pad first and then proceeding with a more aggressive polishing or compounding pad.How to Use:The most important step of the detailed process is to start with a clean surface. Preparation regarding removing insect residue, tar, and paint contamination using a clay process or fallout remover should be done before using this product.Apply a small amount of product onto a foam or wool buffing pad, and slowly work into the painted surface with the machine off. This will help avoid any product sling. If you are an experienced detailer, slow acceleration of the machine can be started right away without any product sling.Work the product until the product becomes nearly invisible. This is an area that is rushed by many auto detailers. If you do not work the product thoroughly, you will not allow the product's abrasives to be diminished completely.Wipe the area with a soft microfiber towel. Check your work and proceed to the next panel If the pad combination is working correctly with the product. You can always switch the pad to a more aggressive foam pad if necessary. Always start with the least aggressive pad and work your way up the pad aggressiveness level. This is especially true for the enthusiast detailer who does not have the experience to choose the correct pad and product combination quickly. Tech Tip:Always work in small sections.Completely work product until nearly invisible.Always use dedicated microfiber towels to ensure no marring is placed back onto the surface after removed from the buffing stage.Paint surface preparation is the answer to a flawless finish.A quick detailer such as Wipe Away can be used to aid in the removal of excess product.Just because you do not see any product on your buffing pad does not mean it is not present. A mist of a detail spray held approximately 10 inches away from the pad will release any product remaining inside it. This helps prevent product overload.Keep pad clean by using a pad cleaning tool frequently to avoid the buildup of product.“Dry buffing” can easily be felt when the machine becomes unstable on the painted panel. More product is needed to replace the lubrication barrier between the buffing pad and painted surface.Always start with the least aggressive pad and work your way up the pad aggressiveness level.
