It was delivered in a carton and in a timely manner, and had to be assembled, but that was easy to do (the instruction sheet included photos of each step). A bucket, lid, and splash shield are included, too. The commode can be used over an existing toilet (using the splash shield) that may be too low for use by someone with mobility or health issues, or placed by a bedside or in another area of the house where a powder room/bathroom is not close by or readily accessible (using the bucket and lid). A sample waste bag comes with the item. Other waste bags and pads have to be purchased separately. It is an item that can be considered to be a neccessity if you are caring for someone in need.
