Mora Moss arrived in San Francisco in 1854, at the height of the Gold Rush. But instead of rushing off to the hills to find it the hard way (if lucky) he stayed in the big city, where he got a job as a bank clerk. He rose quickly in the world of business, eventually becoming the president of both the first telegraph company in the state and the first gas company as well. As well as being actively involved in other businesses he was a civic leader, serving as a Regent to the University of California and serving on the boards of charity organizations. Clearly not someone to spend an idle moment, somewhere along the way he found time to take on a young wife, Julia Wood, and build them this lovely estate, which combines both their names, Mosswood. After her death in 1904 the City of Oakland purchased the property to serve as a park. As a work of art these prints are worth purchasing in their own right. For those of you interested in building a historically inspired house, these plans offer an excellent starting point. Typical for the time, the plan has 6 bedrooms but only a single bathroom. However the 2nd floor could easily be adapted to combine rooms to create a full Master Bedroom suite with its own bath. The plan is ideally suited for a flat site. This house would be comfortable in a suburban or country setting. This spacious home has outside dimensions of approximately 52' x 66'. SHIPPING: Your drawings are shipped to you, rolled, not folded, in a Priority Mail tube. This eBay listing includes architectural prints ONLY. Any photos shown in the description are for information only and are NOT included in your purchase. For information about the photos please send me a message through eBay. Thanks. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO BUILD: These plans are not complete architectural drawings as might be required by your local permitting agency and do not contain all the structural, waterproofing and other details and information necessary for construction. But your local builder or architect should be able to adapt these drawings and add to them as necessary. What they do provide is accurate design information about a REAL historic house, not a pseudo-historic tract house as you will find in the house plan magazines on your supermarket shelf INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: Orders shipped to addresses outside the USA may be subject to customs duties at their destination. The buyer is responsible for any such duties. The original drawings from which these dimensionally accurate scans were made are kept at the Historic American Building Survey, in the Library of Congress. (VI024) MORE LISTINGS
