Dates approximately 1870/1900 In Wonderful restored condition. No missing or replaced timber. Just very minute nibbling which is nothing. A really terrific early box in great condition. Crisp carving. Terrific hand carved by a competent hand. Would have taken many man hours to complete. Difficult to appreciate until you see it in front of you. Boxes of this calibre are becoming increasingly rare. Box retains the original hinges and lock and what looks like a replacement top catch.Supplied with a silk tassel and Victorian key that sadly does not lock the box and is supplied and described as being decorative only. YOU ONLY GET THIS TYPE OF QUALITY FROM US. Comprising a wonderful interior that has been relined in expensive velvet material of the highest quality. Beneath the base of the box has also been lined in the same velvet to stop any scratches to other surfaces. A superb box, and would make a fantastic gift. Please bear in mind that we try to give a reasonable account of restoration that's taken place, and try to highlight major points. The majority of our boxes are over one hundred years old. They are not new and may have antique marks, tiny missing pieces slight misalignment or shrinkage imperfections, and will have shown signs of fatigue. Its all normal for the age of any historic box.
