VF to Exc on the fronts; the backs have typical oxidation. No markings seen by my 60 year old reading glasses reinforced eyes on the SDS button. The buttons are hard to find. SSOC had roughly 500 members in its 50 chapters at its max operating from 1964 to 1969; it operated as the defacto arm of Students For A Democratic Society (SDS) in the American South and was allied with the Student Non Violent Co-ordinating Committee (SNCC). Comprised of civil rights activists, the group was also active in opposing the Vietnam War. The group saw itself as distinctly Southern and utilized images of the Confederate flag as found on the larger button. The design on the larger button is by the SNCC artist Claude Weaver and was fashioned after a handshake between SSOC organizer Archie Allen and SNCC chairman John Lewis. See info in this link about SSOC https://www.britannica.com/topic/Southern-Student-Organizing-Committee See the pictures for more details and consider these to be part of the description.
