Description: Original First Edition Clarke Gable portrait by Eugene R Richee...1970-1980 reproduced exclusively by Foto-Roff of London (as shown in images of very bottom of artwork margin found recently hidden under the frame lip. Thus, understand that this is a exceptionally rare piece, both I and an expert could not find another via research and his comments about this piece was "that this may be the One and Only First Edition of this Richee Clarke Gable portrait (exciting thought but would need more in depth focused research). ..however rare, it is not the original actual silver gelatin photo from which this was made.Have no idea where that may be! Have seen full length copies generic like this...but, only this one First Edition with the Richee and Foto-Roff names together and showing with this close up image. Any info out there, pass along and appreciated. Please see images of the very bottom where I took off only the bottom piece of frame to find the printed information shown...First Edition etc. Keep in mind the age of the acrylic front piece which does show wear but did an excellent job of keeping this beautiful wood in super condition throughout. Full images taken at bit of an angle as hard to take any image without reflection...did my best, this piece is again, in great condition, sharp and not faded. The framing is good but certainly would be even better in newer one, and perhaps with non glare front and archival backing etc. Worthy of preservation in may ways. Very nice size measuring framed...17.75" W x 24" H.The actual Gable image is just over 13.25' W X 16.5" H. The rest is the Eugene R Richee header as shown. Advised c 1970-1980s...so, exact date image taken is unknown...found as shown about 10 years ago, and stored with other art treasures, found framed in this black metal frame and has acrylic front, used most likely to prevent harms to the image should if glass break. Awesome piece to have found and have always liked Clarke Gable characters, movies etc....which is why I bought this in the first place.
