Description: The February 17, 1776 Continental issue was unique in that is included 4 fractional denominations. This $1 note features an emblem of a weighted bowl on an acanthus plant. This emblem is encircled by the latin motto “DEPRESSA RESURGIT” (Though crushed it recovers). An interesting motto and very fitting for the times. The reverse features nature print of ragweed and 2 willow leaves. Very pleasing XF example with light paper and bold ink throughout. The reverse of this desirable $1 denomination has particularly nice nature print.
