Interesting story behind these old magazines I have up for sale..... I was perusing a really cool local flea market that my girlfriend & I attend every other week and it's great 'cause there's always different sellers and new stuff to look at each time we go there! The thing I like most is it's not the typical modern junk you see at flea markets and there's tons of really old collectible stuff and lots of really unique items. Recently we came across an elderly African-American woman with a deep southern drawl that had a buncha stuff spread out in the space she was renting for the day. She seemed really feisty and was definitely quite a character. She struck me as being an anachronism and seemed out of place and out of time somehow, definitely not someone you'd expect to meet in 2011, more like someone right out of 1955. Anyway, amongst the numerous items she had for sale were several boxes of REALLY old magazines, most of which I had never even HEARD of! I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent and well informed individual but I had never heard of magazines such as Coronet, Modern Living and Nature Magazine with issues from the 1930's & 1940's so I spent some time going through the boxes and picked out the ones in the best condition that were completely intact and in good shape. Some of the early Coronet magazines are slightly rough around the edges on the covers but ALL the inner pages are perfect! All the "Modern Living" and "Nature" Magazines were already placed in clear, collector-ready plastic slip-over covers and had been well cared for previously. Try as I might, the old woman had her set asking price and wouldn't budge on it even though I ended up taking a decent quantity but I guess since I "cherry-picked" the group for the best stuff, I just had to pay her asking price.
