Description: CURE T-Shirt 1986 European Tour "Boys Don't Cry" VERY RARE. This T-shirt was purchased in Frejus, France on 08/08/1986. A lucky few American teens vacationing in nearby St. Tropez were allowed into the adjacent castle to watch Robert Smith smear his lipstick and roll around in bed naked with several cats. Although those memories, are priceless, this shirt is the tangible evidence of that evening. This shirt was worn maybe thousands of times, and was originally the texture of a Hanes/Fruit of the Loom undershirt, so somewhat thin. The American tour T's from the same year were thicker and did not feature this graphic. It was placed in storage sometime around 1991, never to be worn again. It has no rips or tears, and has a small dot, possible from hair dye on the collar (right shoulder side). I believe this is the first tour Cure played Glastonbury. Regardless, it is a fabulous piece of Goth/Alternative history. It remains the best Cure concert I've been to, and pre-dates their major radio hits and broader appeal. As Smith himself said that night, "We are just some sad lads." Indeed. I'm happy to wash it in Woolite to remove the aroma of 30+ year old cardboard. It was obviously a small batch, hand screened, as the graphics are somewhat off of "square" front to back.
