Kings and queens stand on approximately 1 15/16 inch diameter bases; kings weigh approximately 4.1 ounces (116 grams) each. Knights and bishops similarly stand on bases of matching size that are somewhat smaller. Note that each side includes 2 queens in the event of pawn promotion. Squares drawn on the paper illustrate how the kings would stand and appear on either 2" or 2 1/2" squares; in seller's opinion the ideal square size for these pieces would measure an (intermediate) 2 3/8 inches on a side (see photos). This is a remarkable, striking, and attention getting set, needing only your board to play, and the weight of all the pieces of either color is 2 1/2 pounds.
