Description: A Dallmeyer Triple Achromatic Rigid No.3 10" x 8" Brass Bound Barrel Lens Serial 10544. The lens in overall sound condition with provision for Waterhouse stops (none included). The front group has a a significant number of small scratches (possibly "cleaning marks") on both inner and outer surfaces the most significant shown in photos 4 & 5 and some discolouration to the periphery which appears to be glue seepage between elements of the group. The rear group in good condition but showing some separation as shown in photograph 6. Some inclusions / dust specks are also evident. The middle group in excellent condition with no evident flaws. The lens with focal length of approximately 7 1/2 inch (measured). Stock book entry shows manufacture early January 1866.A nice addition to any early lens collection - usable subject to the limitations described above.
