Doylestown, Pennsylvania quartet Daylight formed in 2007 and spent the years leading up to the release of their debut full-length, Jar, releasing their music in the form of small-scale EPs and honing a sound that fell somewhere between basement-bred emo and a throwback to the heyday of '90s grunge. Down to the '90s-influenced cover art, Jar takes cues from the more coherent pop side of grunge, with tracks like "Outside of Me" and "Life in a Jar" sounding like the heavier side of acts like Stone Temple Pilots, Quicksand, and early Smashing Pumpkins, complete with angsty breakdowns and creepy vocal harmonies.
