DC Showcase Presents Sgt Rock Vol 3 Paperback TPB/Graphic Novel Comics 2010

Description: For sale today is the huge, very rare, and out-of-print (oop) DC Comics trade paperback (tpb)/graphic novel DC Showcase Presents: Sgt. Rock (Volume 3) by various artists and authors, published in 2007. It totals 596 pages. Collects stories from OUR ARMY AT WAR (1952-1977) #149-163, 165-172 and 174-180. Written by ROBERT KANIGHER Art and cover by JOE KUBERT. War is hell - and no one knows that better than Sgt. Rock and Easy Company. I am not a comics grader, but I try to be as thorough as possible when assessing books for any flaws. I don't believe in using a number grade system - to me they are mostly utilized as a method to be ambiguous about exact condition and/or individual imperfections - but I do attempt to describe anything other than minor cover shelf-scuffing/scratching in detail. If a certain flaw discussed below does not mention that it affects inside pages, then it does not. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This copy is in decent at best overall condition, mainly due to the internal flaws. While it does have an attached spine and a majority of very good/easily legible inside pages (photo#3 example), it does possess multiple signs of wear, both externally and internally. Externally the flaws are consisting of mostly indents, and most of them affect the covers only. Internally, the previous owner's (presumably) child cut out a few panels or smaller rectangles here or there, with 2 pages torn out completely (all affected pages/sections are described fully below; please at the very least skip to the "Internally" section). **Photo#4: -Upper spine corner: Scuffing/indenting/cover film peel along it. Three ~3/4" cover film raises starting on the edge. Small ding/indent/tear at/around where it meets the front cover. Small film peel where it meets on the back cover.-Lower spine corner: Some scuffing/light indenting. Light ~1" cover film raise starting on the edge. Small ding/indent/scuff/peel at/around where it meets the front cover. Small ding/indent/scuff where it meets back cover. **Photo#5: -Front cover top edge: Some scuffing/small indents along most of it. Small crease/depression starting adjacent towards the spine corner.-Outer corner: ~2" indent around corner, two small creases around extreme corner (photo#9 w/illumination). Small indent/scuff/bend/cover peel at extreme corner, goes thru ~1/4 pages as a bend. **Photo#6 (w/illumination):-Front cover bottom edge: Some scuffing/small indents along most of it.-Outer corner: ~3.5" indent around corner, shows as a vertical ~5" indent on first ~3 pages. Light ~1" indent nearby corner. ~1/2" crease/scuff/bend/cover peel at extreme corner, goes thru ~10 pages as a corner fold, ~70 pages as a light indent, and ~1/2 pages as a light bend. **Photo#7: -Back cover top edge: ~1/2" scuff/indent towards outer corner, a few small scuffs towards spine corner. Two ~1" indents starting adjacent the edge near the spine corner (photo#10 w/illumination).-Outer corner: ~1/2" crease/scuff/bend/cover peel, goes thru ~1/2 pages as a bend. **Photo#8 (w/illumination):-Back cover bottom edge: Some scuffing/small indents along most of it, with a ~1" indent/depression towards the spine corner, and an adjacent ~1/2" cover crease near its middle. -Outer corner: ~2.5" indent around corner. ~1" crease also around corner. Small crease/scuff/bend/cover peel around extreme corner, goes thru ~15 pages as an indent, ~5 as a corner fold, and thru ~1/4 pages as a light bend. **Additionally: Front cover possesses a ~1" crease/depression towards the front top outer corner, 2 more near cover's center, and another towards lower spine corner. Another towards the bottom outer corner with a surrounding patch of ~7 small dings/depressions (photo#11 w/illumination, small dings show lightly on ~3 pages). ~1" indent near top edge, another near bottom edge. Some lighter indents/scratches/depressions around cover. Back cover has a ~4" diagonal and a ~1" horizontal indent near the upper spine corner. ~13 creases/indents/depressions from small-to-~1" near cover's center/page edge (photo#12 w/illumination). Small ding/depression towards bottom outer corner. Some lighter indents/scratches/depressions around the cover. Both covers' page edges have some light scuffing and some cover film peeling along them. Spine adhesive is beginning to lose its effectiveness where it meets at the second to first and last inside pages, but is still fully attached. ***Internally (PLEASE READ - this is where the flaws to this novel are most important, in my opinion): This book was pre-owned, and sadly, the previous owner's (presumably) child did a number to some of the pages. I flipped back thru the entire book, and photographed/noted every missing or torn section (due to eBay's photo limit, not every one is able to be posted here, so please message me if you would like to view the others). Any that involve missing speech bubbles are denoted. -Front inside cover: "William" and a few other words, as well as smears in green marker (photo#13).-Page#13/14: ~3" cut from bottom edge leading to ~1" cut out rectangle.-Page#21/22: ~2" cut from top edge leading to ~3"x~1.5" cut out oval (photo#14).-Page#23/24: ~2"x~1/2" cut out rectangle at page edge's middle.-Page#27/28: ~1"x~1/2" cut out rectangle near top outer corner (missing a few words).-Page#67/68: ~2" cut from page edge leading to ~3"x~1.5" cut out oval (missing a text bubble).-Page#97/98: ~1.5"x~3/4" cut out rectangle near top outer corner (missing a text bubble, and also a few words of another.)-Page#117/118: ~3"x~2" cut out rectangle near top outer corner (photo#15, missing a sentence or so from both sides).-Page#129/130: ~2" cut starting from page edge's middle. Another ~1" cut leading to a ~1"x~1/2" oval.-Page#135/136: ~5"x~3.5" section missing at bottom of page (photo#16, missing a few panels in general).-Page#151/152: ~2.5"x~1" cut out rectangle near top outer corner (photo#17).-Page#161/162: Page torn out (photo#18).-Page#179/180: Almost entire top half of page torn out (photo#19).-Page#201/202: ~5"x~2" section ripped at bottom outer corner, but still there, with 2 smaller actually cut out/gone trapezoids adjacent (photo#20).-Page#205-208: Small yellow stain near pages' middles (photo#21).-Page#213/214: Page torn out.-Page#283/284: ~1/2" tear at bottom edge.-Page#297/298: Most of page is torn from binding but still intact. ~3.5"x~2.5" cut out rectangle starting near upper spine corner (photo#22, 2 panels missing).-Page#299/300: ~3"x~1/2" cut of rectangle near top outer corner.-Page#357/358: ~3" cut leading to a ~2"x~1.5" cut out rectangle at cover's upper half. ~2.5"x~3/4" cut out rectangle at page edge (photo#23).-Page#407/408: ~2"x~1.5" cut out trapezoid near top outer corner (also leads to a small loose-hanging section at the extreme corner, and causes some words in a speech bubble to be missing).-Page#409/410: Two ~2"x~1/2" cut out triangles on page edge (photo#24, one causes small loose-hanging section, the other causes a few words to be missing).-Page#411/412: ~2"x~1/2" cut out triangle on page edge. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I both buy to read as well as sell TPBs on here, so I understand how aggravating it is to receive a comic damaged in transit. I always pack books firmly between pieces of cardboard (among other materials/layers) via Gemini Comic mailers or bubble mailers depending on size; usually utilizing boxes for larger lots.
