Description: Deluxe Hi-Fi Tradeship AK-660 AM Radio 1963 Serviced Works Excellent Vintage VTG Made in Japan, by the components installed, I believe this is 1963. Radiomuseum.org says: “This radio was marketed under numerous brand names including Tradeship (Model AK-660), Merc-Radio (Model HT-6043), Valiant (Model HT-6043), Sublime, Hamilton and Tempest. There are likely more brands out there for this radio". (I can confirm that). This was the second of several radios I bought from a collector who attempted to repair their radio themselves. They recapped it, and did a fine job, but it didn’t fix it. They must have figured that there was something wrong with its alignment, which would explain why the radio’s alignment was nowhere near anywhere that could tune a signal. They turned the little adjustment screws, which never fixes a radio. Realigned, I found why it didn’t work. It had a broken variable capacitor. I.E. the tuner. I found an identical exact replacement which repaired the radio. It’s clean, glossy, and shows very little signs of use. Nothing missing. Nothing broken. No chips. No cracks. The front original painted script is nice. The chrome front reflects like a mirror. It does have some fine hairline marks that are minimal. Please see photos. The front is so reflective I had a little trouble getting them to show in the photos. I angled the camera to show the hairlines. It comes with its original carry case. Soft. Subtle. Nothing broken. It's also is in nice condition. I usually service the vintage radios I sell on eBay because who wants a radio that doesn’t work, right? Serviced = I clean the volume control, check the radio’s alignment, and check its current draw. It’s loud. Volume control goes smoothly from totally silent to blazing overload loud. It produces a clean and clear sound. It’s sensitive. I was able to easily zoom straight to the local weak stations in my area I use to confirm a radio is working correctly. It is. It looks good.
