Description: Early photographic post card of notable German dance orchestra conducted by Dajos Bela and playing in Riga, Latvia. Caption at bottom reads, “The rhythm of the hundred thousand - Dajos Bela with his dance orchestra only on Odeon-Electric”. Photograph shows Dajos Bela, alias Leon Golzmann (1897-1978) with his orchestra: a 12-member wind group, including 3 (or 4) saxophones, piano and accordion, bass, guitar and banjo, and 6 violins. In the middle in the foreground Dajos Bela as soloist and conductor of the chapel. Post Card measures 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches and is in very good condition with only light surface wear. There are no bends, tears, or creases. Back has a Riga music agent stamp and address. Also noted is the early use of a banjo in this type of orchestra.
