Description: DORA HALL & H.B. BARNUM ORCHESTRA "Engine, Engine No.9 " 1966 First Press Mono COZY SP-103 (PLS 1005/1006) NOTE: This is a first press of Dora Hall's 3rd LP for Cozy Records. Cozy began as the private press label of Leo Hulseman, owner of Solo Cups Company. He started pressing records for his wife Dora Hall in an attempt to get her a Major Label recording contract. The early records were placed in generic white jackets stamped "Pop Country" and distributed to Solo's corperate customers--such as RCA & Capitol. Eventually, as Hall's records gained radio play & moderate popularity, Huselman reissued the records with real covers and new titles and negotiated a minor distribution deal. Probably the greatest contribution Cozy made to popular music was helping to launch the career of composer, conductor, arranger H.B. Barnum, who made some great Soul Jazz records, both with Lou Rawls and under his own leadership for Capitol. Vinyl: EX condition; glossy vinyl; rarely played; just some superficial sleeve/handling marks, but nothing that can be felt; no scratches; LP sounds very nice! Cover: VG+ condition; Original Cozy Records generic white cardboard jacket stamped "Pop Country"; rub-wear, light edge & corner wear (see photos). Comes with a new poly-vinyl dust cover & new white paper sleeve. My Grading Scale: NM / EX / VG+ / VG / G SHIPPING NOTE: I do not profit from shipping charges! I provide new poly-vinyl dust covers & inner sleeves for every item, and pack in strong cruciform mailers (or a waterproof padded bubble-lined envelope for 7-inches) with both cardboard & bubble wrap protective inserts. This costs me close to an additional $2 for each item. I also purchase tracking for every location where the USPS offers it.
