Description: Offered for your consideration is a clear glass butter dish with gold trim and applied band made by the National Glass Company (McKee and Bros. Works, 1899-1904) in their "Gothic" pattern. Also known as "Spearpoint Band", this pattern was introduced in 1903. The butter dish base measures approximately 7.75 inches (19.7 cm) in diameter and 1 inch (2.5 cm) tall. The lid is 5.25 inches (13.3 cm) in diameter and 4 inches (10.2 cm) tall. Combined, the butter dish base with lid is approximately 5 inches (12.7 cm) tall to top of finial. This butter dish and lid are in very good used condition. There is chipping and roughness on inside lip of base, a fracture on edge of base, and the gold trim shows wear, especially on finial. There is additional minor roughness on tips of base. The lid fits poorly and will stick if pressed firmly onto base. Butter dish is used so there may be very faint surface scratches, minor wear, or additional indications of use. See photos. The glass is bright and clear with no cloudiness, discoloration, nor lime scale present. There may be bubbles within the glass, a shear (straw) mark, and other minor imperfections from the manufacturing process used at the time. Butter dish will be shipped from a smoke-free home and will be packed securely for shipping. Good luck and thank you for your interest.
