This Early American Pattern Glass clear with ruby stain "BROKEN COLUMN" cruet is antique glass that has survived well over 100 years of survival and because of age has now become a beautiful family heirloom piece of glass, there is only one issue, the end of the original stopper that goes into the cruet itself has a sliver of glass chipped off, there is NO other damage or roughness to this beautiful tuff to find cruet, there are no cracks and the glass is not stained that we sometimes find; I may also add that this EAPG CLEAR with RUBY STAIN "BROKEN COLUMN" HANDLED CRUET with the ORIGINAL STOPPER is an early vintage antique ruby stained cruet with the original stopper that has been used and displayed over many years and is still a very beautiful ruby stained cruet; I am going to mention that there is surface wear on the bottom of this "BROKEN COLUMN" cruet from being used and moved around in the many china closets in its day, as you can see there are three rows of notches with the ruby stain, the bottom row of notches does have surface wear and finger feel roughness as I call it, the top row of ruby notches at the top of this cruet around the pouring lip is flawless with no white specks in the ruby stain, the middle row of notches are at least 97% like the top row of notches, the third bottom row of notches, is not bad but do have some wear, we have to remember this cruet was used in its day, but still this cruet is a little beauty because of the original stopper, even with the damage that goes into the bottle, according to the beautiful ruby stain and the condition that I've just described, I've priced this cruet accordingly, I try to mention everything and I've taken many photos to show all I've just talked about, there are no heat checks any where around the handle either at the top or the bottom of this handle, this cruet is a real tuff ruby stain cruet to find; This "BROKEN COLUMN" cruet that I have here does have those EAPG characteristics of the glass produced during this era of glass making production having stress lines in the glass, straw marks, and air bubbles inside the glass, these characteristics are not considered damage done during the production of this highly sought after cruet; This much sought after pattern, can be seen in one of my many reference materials, one by "William Heacock" who show and talk about this highly sought after pattern in the so called "ruby stain bible", the "Victorian Colored Pattern Glass book #7 "Ruby Stained Glass from A-Z" on pages #28, #83, & #84; I have taken numerous photos with flash and outside in natural daylight in different backgrounds in numerous angles and positions to show pattern, glass clarity, condition, ruby stain condition and size hoping to answer any and all questions but if need be you can E-mail me or you can see me on my NEW web site at terrymackeyantiques.com.
