Description: EARLY - CIRCA 1890 WALL MOUNT 8 LINE OAK TELEPHONE SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR EXCHANGE - RARE This wonderful little wall mount circa 1890 eight line telephone switchboard operator exchange is the perfect centerpiece of any serious telephone collector's collection - because of its dainty size and great look alone. Inside can see some of the switching mechanisms are lacking. One jack receptacle on the right side is loose and will not snug fit into the wood front panel. What really makes this phone piece simply unique is and fascinating are the 8 weights that are attached to the green wire cordage underneath the top shelf board, which give the cordage to give it instant retraction capabilities in aiding the operator. The rear wood section is RAISED PANEL oak - which is indicative of early cabinetry usually found in the 1890's. The shape and small size that this piece embodies is outright awesome. Measures 30" TALL x 14 1/4" DEEP x 11 1/2" WIDE and weighs over 75 pounds boxed for shipment. The maker's name plate has been removed unfortunately, but this looks like a Western Electric product.
