Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE East German Banner of Peasants Mutual Aid Association, rare original DDR flag, c. 1950s-60s. This is 100% GUARANTEED genuine East German item from the Communist era, made before the collapse of the Berlin Wall and reunification of Germany. In cotton, with embroidered emblem on a separate piece of fabric on both sides stitched onto the banner. The Peasants Mutual Aid Association (German: Vereinigung der gegenseitigen Bauernhilfe, VdgB) was a mass organization for peasants and farmers, later including gardeners as well, with headquarters in East Berlin. It was founded in 1945-46, dissolved in 1990-94 after reunification of the country. The flag is in very good condition. It was pinned to a backing wall at some point, the pins leaving tiny holes along the edges. There are also two small white spots where the green was apparently bleached off, and a small brownish smudge that looks like an ironing accident. None of this damage is too intrusive or detractive, lost in the large area of the banner. This is a rare piece of DDR history which will make a fine backdrop to a collection of East German memorabilia.
