Description: This was such an absolutely gorgeous book when it arrived some sixteen years ago, I purchased two copies, one for each artistic son, and decided to sell one. Thus, I include above pictures from the volume I am keeping, so that you may skim the contents of the unopened book you'll receive. The factory sealed book in plastic pictured above is the one you will receive. I could go on and on about how lovely this book is, but suffice to say: my family is very "into" art. Both sons are adept painters and our home has many lovely pictures on its walls. This is one of my favorite art books, as I am a big Van Gogh fan, and this does such a lovely job of providing much biographical information about the artist, but also showcasing many of his beautiful works. It is a "coffee table" book with much information as well. You can see the chronological layout of Van Gogh's pictures with various periods in his life. If you love the masters and want a book with great information and beauty, this one is a treasure. All the Easton Press bells and whistles are here: archival quality paper which is a joy to hold and thumb through, an expertly stitched binding, 22 kt gold gilt for cover ornamentation AND protection of pages from dust, a premium leather cover - no shortcuts here! The copyright page lists this book as an original edition produced and edited by Ingo F. Walther, Alling with an English translation by Michael Hulse of Cologne. The copyright date is 2008 and the book is listed as printed in China with ISBN 978-3-8228-3768-9. I purchased this directly from Easton Press and it was listed under their deluxe editions. My assumption is since Van Gogh was a Dutch artist, this was produced by Europeans and published by a high end publisher with branches in Hong Kong, Koln, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Paris, and Tokyo, and that there was a collaboration with Easton Press. Fear not, this is Easton quality all the way. The original price in 2013 was $129.00 plus sales tax. So, put on your Don McLean, and listen to "Vincent" while you peruse. Rumor has it McLean wrote his masterpiece song on a paper bag after reading a book about Van Gogh, so who knows what this will inspire? "Starry, starry nightPaint your palette blue and grayLookout on a summer's dayWith eyes that know the darkness in my soul...." Packing will be excellent with protection from corner bumping, rain, and holiday postal traffic. FREE SHIPPING to U.S. forty-eight contiguous states. Thank you for viewing!
