This is a stunning pre-production proof of no fewer than seven different promotional displays, four of which have a baseball theme. The dominant portion, taking up fully two-thirds of the surface area, is a giant Casey Stengel endorsement of Gillette Super Speed Razors, with an offer of a free Encyclopedia of Baseball with the purchase of the razor for $1.00. Along the outer perimeter of the piece are additional advertising pieces related to the promotion, as well as other pieces advertising Gillette's Foamy brand shaving cream, a Paper-Mate "Capri" brand pen, and an offer for Gillette razor blades. These posters were likely printed and the affixed to die-cut, easel-backed cardboard advertising displays for use in retail stores. Initially printed on giant poster sheets and cut down, this example may have been an advertising proof that was saved the indignity of being cut down. The result is an absolutely massive presentation, brilliant and colorful. Condition appears excellent, though edge wear is evident, particularly at the top, simply because this is difficult to store.
