Description: This vintage letter opener from the ESSO Hawke’s Service Station on Davenport Road in Toronto is a rare find for gas and oil advertising collectors. The off white letter opener features the iconic Esso logo and is made of plastic — possibly nylon or polyester. Based on the postal prices printed on the handle we can date this letter opener to the early 1950s (1951-1954). The letter opener is perfect for opening letters with ease, as well as weighing them (maximum 2 ounces) and can also be a great display item. Measures about 8.5” long. In great condition for its age, the only flaws are a tiny bit of soiling (we have not attempted to clean this) and a tiny nick on the blade — please see photos for more information on the condition.
