Description: Esterhuysenia alpina is a dwarf mesemb (family Aizoaceae) from South Africa. It is a winter grower, but generally keeps some leaves through the summer. It will form a woody stem within a few years, and with a bit of pruning makes an excellent bonsai. In spring, it delights with an abundance of large lavender flowers that are scented and can perfume a room. 15 seeds from 2023. Surface sow, or barely cover seeds on a well-drained gritty mix with mineral additives (perlite, pumice, lava). A little grit on top which seeds can fall between helps hold up young seedlings. Keep moist until they germinate. Once germinated, allow soil surface to dry a bit. They can take some water all year, but especially appreciate it in the fall, when in active growth. Since I cannot control the techniques and growing conditions used, I cannot warranty the seeds. However, I try to provide instructions to maximize your success, and hope that these plants grow well for you! I offer free shipping on additional purchases, so feel free to check out my other items.
