Description: EUC - Pampered Chef Stoneware microwave double egg/pot pie cooker #5131 - NO BOX As you use your unglazed stoneware, it will darken as it develops a seasoning - which is a natural nonstick finish. This is completely normal and exactly what you want to have happen! Instructions included in package for use, cleaning and recipes. Also, printout of original instructions. **Grease inside before baking. DO NOT use aerosol sprays. This double-well baker is GREAT for baking single serving cakes as long as you pre-season it (see below), keep it clean and grease before baking until the natural non-stick seasoning builds up. Pizza stones, stone bar pans, bread baking crocks and baking round stones -- nearly every Pampered Chef product with "stone" in the name -- requires seasoning to build up the layer of polymerized fat that prevents sticking. Stoneware self-seasons after repeated use, but you always have a few casualties -- a pizza that won't slide off or a few muffins that won't dislodge from their cups -- in the beginning, if you don't prep the surface. Seasoning ensures your first baking experience in Pampered Chef stoneware isn't a sticky one. Step 1 Heat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Wash the stoneware with hot water and a scrub brush or sponge. The manufacturer does not recommend using soap -- just a good scrub with hot water. Step 2 Dry the stoneware with a towel and coat it with a thin layer of vegetable oil. Set the stoneware on the oven rack with a pan on the rack below. Step 3 Bake the stoneware for 30 minutes then turn the oven off. Let the stoneware come to room temperature in the oven, about 2 hours. You can use the stoneware as needed; the stoneware will keep itself seasoned with repeated use. Do not use aerosol nonstick spray. If you have food buildup on your stone or you notice the seasoning flaking off, you can deep clean it using the following method: Allow the stone to cool to room temperature Scrape off dried-on food with a nylon scraper or a nylon kitchen brush. Prepare a baking soda paste by mixing ½ cup (125 mL) baking soda with 3 Tbsp (45 mL) water. Spread paste on stoneware, and let stand 10–15 minutes. Scrape off any paste, rinse well in warm water, and dry before storing. Helpful Hint: Flaking can occur after years of use. It can also happen if stoneware is stored in an oven and exposed to baking cycles when it’s not in use; this can burn off the seasoning. If possible, store your stoneware in a cool, dry place. Cleaning Pampered Chef stoneware is easy because the stoneware is virtually nonporous so foods and liquids won’t soak in. Here’s how to maintain your stones for many happy years of cooking and baking.
