Description: This week I'm offering a number of old non-sport cards from various vintage sets. The Exhibit card company issued large quantities of these 3 ½ x 5 ½ blank-backed photo cards on heavy card stock, sold in penny arcade machines throughout the nation, from the mid-1930s (if not earlier) to the mid-1960s. Because this issue can't be dated precisely, I have to take an educated guess regarding the date of issue. The most popular Western character of the Thirties and Forties was the Lone Ranger, featured in a very successful radio show beloved by kids across the country. In 1938, the character was featured in a very successful Republic movie serial. The Exhibit company issued a number of cards showing cast members and scenes from that movie, as well as a few photos of the radio actors in full costume. The Lone Ranger series makes up one of the more interesting subsets of the Exhibit issue. This card, probably dating from 1938, the year the movie was released, shows the Lone Ranger and Tonto, his faithful Native American companion. Note that this card probably shows the radio series actors rather than the actors from the movie.. The card is in nice shape except for two holes that have been punched along the left side (see scan for condition). This would be a terrific addition to any collection! Shipping is $4.00 for First Class Mail, and postage will be combined for multiple winnings. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
