Fantastic Antique Rookwood Arts Crafts Vase "XVII" 1917 #1903 Matte Indigo Blue

Description: Featured in this auction is a magnificent cabinet vase made by Rookwood Pottery. The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, even overall crazing, and no repairs. This piece is 5-1/4" tall, 3-1/2" wide at the base, and 2-1/2" wide at the top rim opening. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 1903 and the production year XVII (1917). There is an area of light glaze loss just at the inner base rim edge (as made). Stilt marks are visible. The vase features a tapered cylindrical form with an arts-and-crafts motif of palm leaves encircling the neck. This gorgeous glaze is a matte, indigo-blue underglaze with a lovely green overdrip that is most easily seen on the inside rim. There are also some tiny glaze pops and pinholes both inside and out. The vase has been gently used with some very-light mineral staining inside and scant stray marks but is otherwise very clean. Check out all 8 photos!
