Description: Vintage! One of a kind Alebrijes, which are Mexico's fantastic, imaginative figures, are made of copal wood, hand carved and painted, often by the collective effort of whole families from wood-carving towns in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. Oaxaca's wood carvings are collected world-wide and are exhibited in galleries and museums. This fantastic large Dragon creation is signed by the artist Francisco Hernandez Cruz with removable wood ears which were glued in and one is broken off while the other appears to have been glued in but doesn’t stay in place, as well as removable wings which have been glued in. I think it could be repaired by a Alebrijes collector. This large colorful Dragon is a high quality collector's item - a one of a kind piece! It is very large, 12” long, 10” tall with a wingspan of 9”. I am also including an informative book “Oaxaca Wood Carving” published in 1993, in excellent condition. It tells the history of the folk art from Oaxaca. Please see pictures for repairs needed.
