Field Marshal Edmund Allenby Prominent British Commander Autograph ''Rare''.

Description: Field Marshal Edmund Henry Hyman Allenby, 1st Viscount Allenby [1861 1936] was a British officer and statesman who began his military career in 1880, and was a veteran of the Second Boer War and World War I. During the First World War he led the British Empire's Egyptian Expeditionary Force during the Sinai and Palestine Campaign and captured Beersheba, Jaffa and Jerusalem in 1917, and the Jordan Valley in 1918. He then went on to northern Palestine and defeated the Yildirim Army Group at the Battle of Megiddo. Allenby was promoted to Field Marshal on July 31, 1919, and remained in the Middle East as High Commissioner for Egypt and Sudan until his retirement in 1925. Listed for auction is a [ALS] autograph letter signed by Field Marshal Edmund Allenby. The letter is dated 4th August/33 and is a response to an autograph request which is signed ''Yrs Truly Allenby F.M.'' in black fountain pen. The page measures approximately 6.25 x 5.00 inches, it has trivial toning/fold lines otherwise it is in fine condition.
