Description: This is a delicately rendered and Fine Antique Old SEABISCUIT Racing HORSE Portrait Oil Painting on Artist Board, by the seldomly seen early - mid 20th century California painter, Elfrieda S. Krauss (1894 - 1960.) Krauss was an instructor at Chouinard Institute in Los Angeles, California at the time of this painting's creation, which depicts the stoic and finely detailed portrait of an American racehorse, with a stable visible in the background. Dated and signed: "1.1.23...E. KRAUSS" in the lower right corner. Approximately 9 1/2 x 13 1/4 inches. Good condition for over a century of age and storage, with mild - moderate edge wear, scuffing, scratches, and fine craquelure across the painted surface of the artwork (please see photos carefully.) Additionally, there is extensive provenance affixed to the verso, including an old newspaper article about the horse Seabiscuit, and his trainer, Tom Smith. Acquired from an old collection in Pasadena, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
