Typically the gear at the end get chewed-up or breaks. The plastic tabs holding the roller may also be damaged. To replace cover:Look at the back of the machine where the cover is attached. One side has an opening slot which will allow you to unsnap the cover. It will take some force to release it. When you get from me the new one, insert one side's pin into the complete hole, and snap in the other side into the open slot.
