Description: Four (4) Vintage Lead Window Sash Weights. There are two slightly different sizes. Two of each size. The slightly longer ones (see photos) are about 1 pound 3 ounces (1.19 lbs) each and are 5 1/4" long and 7/8" diameter. The shorter ones are about 1 pound 2 ounces (1.125 lbs.) each and are 4 3/4" long and 7/8" diameter. The shorter ones are marked "1111." I don't know what this mark means. The age is unknown. But the cords that are still attached to them look very old.Lead sash weights are very uncommon in the U.S. They are more common in Europe. Most Americans used cast iron for sash weights because it was cheaper than lead and more plentiful. Very old sash weights tend to be lead. These are nice small weights (good for tight spaces). They can be reused as sash weights, or repurposed. They are very useful as deep sea fishing anchor weights, duck decoy weights, or whatever. Also useful to melt down and use to make new fishing weights or bullets.
