Description: Very nice set of two transfer ware plates by Gien made in France 7 3/4" in diameter. I have been unable to find an exact match for these plates and cannot date them. They were in a set of plates from my great aunt's estate and the two Napolean plates that they were with were from the 1920's, and I think these might be from a similar era but cannot guarantee it. The plates depict Proberbs from the military, the english translations for the #10 plate says "Obedience is the soldiers first virtue".And the number 12 plate says "By walking we go a long way". These plates are in excellent condition with no crazing, cracks, chips or repairs. They were used though so their are some mild scratches on the plate surface. I did my best to try and capture the scratches in the photos. A nice feature of these plates is they have a bit of a scalloped edge. If you like these plates you might wish to take a look at my other listing of Napolean themed plates, they make a handsome grouping. https://www.ebay.com/sl/list/v2?draft_id=4285388452311&mode=SellLikeItem
