Description: Offered here for Your Bidding Pleasure is this Glorious Staffordshire Bowl! It was made by the Old Hall Earthenware Company, Ltd. They were in business, under this name, from 1861 till 1886. Prior to that, the Company was Charles Meigh & Son....and after, Old Hall Porcelain. Christopher Dresser, well known 19th Century Designer was associated with the Company but I do not know what designs he is responsible for. The company was located in Hanley, England. The pattern is Pomona. The colors are a turquoise and white background with designs in a redish brown. There are flowers and fruit and almost a Corrinthian feel to the borders. This is the size of a punch bowl or one of those bowls for washing hands. Alas, as can be seen from the pictures, there is chipping wear to the inside of the bowl and hairlines to the under base. This is the sort of bowl that has to have it's function reinvented. I have used it for winter hats and gloves, or as a centerpiece during the holidays....filled with sparkling balls. I have even used it for Halloween candy! It is nice if it sits low enough to show the inside design. The diameter of the bowl is 16 inches and the height is about 5 and a half inches. The bowl weighs between 6 and 7 pounds....it is not for the faint of shipping, but, parcel post is not so bad. It is also starting far lower than one in better condition would have. I have loved this piece and so will you!
