And in unprecedented ( & So-Cool ! ) fashion ... this Monster Box Set included Thirty ( 30 ) Grateful Dead Shows on Thirty ( 30 ) CD Sets ( 80-CD's in total ) - and, each CD Set represents the sequential years of the Band's 30-Year development ... from 1966 to 1995 ! Obviously, this was a " Deadheads Dream ! " type Box Set - for the Beyond-Special occasion ... of 50-Years Upon Our Heads ! Fantastic, to say the least ... Wow !!! And, for " This ! " 30 Trips " 1976 " 3-CD Set selection offered here ... Whoa ?!!!! Fall Tour '76 !! ... in " The-Mit !!! " - at Cobo Arena ! ... in Detroit, Michigan !! And yeah ... For-Sure ! - An Incredible ! ' Call ' from inside ' The Vault ' !!! As This ! is indeed one of my own Personal-Favorite ! Dead Shows of the Entire ! 1976 Touring-Year !! And here I was - just ' sure ' that for " 76 " - we'd most likely see a Hot-selection from say ... Portland ? - Boston ? - The Beacon ? - Capitol Theatre ? - maybe even the Tower in Philly ? - the Chicago Auditorium ? - or ... the S.F. Orpheum ? But ... ' Nope ! ' - as this '76 " Pick ! " was indeed one-of the " Sweetest !! " selections of All the 30-Trips releases !! In the form of the '76 " Fall Tour ! " at one-of only 2-Shows ' Ever ! ' that the Grateful Dead played at the Cobo Arena ! - in Detroit !! And, while Fall Tour '77 was ' The Other One ' ... This-One ! was the " First !! ". The Band only ever-played slightly over 30-Shows in all of Michigan ( " The-Mit ! " ) - and only 2-Ever ! were at the Old Cobo Arena ! But, then again ... in '76 - I suppose it still wasn't that old - as heck ... even " The Joe ! " was still Nice & Real-Young ! But, my goodness ... my fellow '76 Dead-Fans ! - as if perhaps you have never heard This-Show ?? ... well, Boy-Oh-Boy ! does it stand all-on-its-own. Inside " Yes " a Dead-Period where there is just " Magical-Show ! " after " Magical-Show !! ". But, though this 10/3/76 Cobo Show is just " So-Hot " all-throughout ... it still has clear-cut ' Stand-Alone ' moments of Pure " Dead-Heat ! " ... and straight up Live-Dead " Moments-Of-Magic ! ". And yeah ... just to answer the question you are likely thinking right-about-now ... " Yep ! " -- Garcia is " ON !!! ". I mean ... the Scarlet & The Music Never Stopped are sort of the 1-2 punch " Indicator " - for sure. But then ... the Playin' !! is just Through-The-Roof !!! And, though the super-emotional Comes A Time is right up there too ( at least to me ) ... there is ' No-Denying ' that the Dancin' ! > NFA !! > Dancin' !!! just flat-out " Steals !!! " This-Show !! As I really have to say ... this one is a Straight-Up " Barn-Burner ! " for '76 Dead standards, per se. And, who knows ? ... as maybe it was partially because they were Playin' in a " New-Barn ! " ... the " 1st Show ! - at Co-bo !! ". The '77 Fall Shows is quite a " Heater " as well - so, maybe it was a potential Favorite " Motor-City " Venue for the Band ?! But, nonetheless - and for whatever reason ... they never did play there again after these '76 & '77 consecutive Fall Tour Shows. Who knows ? - as maybe it was just that KISS ! & maybe Alice Cooper ! too - just had it booked to the rim ? But, you know ... only ' between ' Seger Shows !! " Motor-City ! " I'm saying ... in 1976 ! - long-after, and also long-before the Red Wings were even any good !?! But, my point here is straight ... as the Good Ol' 1976 ! Grateful Dead managed to give Cobo ! a " Gordie Howe Hat Trick !!! " somehow - with just 2-Shows !! ... as it didn't even take them " 3 " tries -- Ha ! And too ... as your listen-away to This !
