Description: This three piece, cast iron waffle maker was produced by The Griswold Manufacturing Company in Erie Pennsylvania between 1910 and 1940. It consists of a #975 low base frame and # 976 and 977 waffle irons. The #976 iron features May 14, 1901 and May 21, 1901 patent dates. The waffle iron consists of two pieces (top and bottom) that fit together with a ball shaped hinge that allows it to swivel when flipping the iron. THE TWO WOODEN HANDLES ARE MISSING. The two assembled waffle irons rest in the low base that keeps everything secure while cooking and allows flipping. The low base measures 10" in diameter with a total length, including handle of 14 3/4". All 3 pieces have been electrostatically cleaned followed by a mechanical cleaning with a steel brush. They were then scrubbed with vinegar and salt to remove any residue from cleaning and washed with soap and water. This was immediately followed by a three step seasoning process using Canola Oil. Aside from the missing wood handles, this waffle iron is in excellent restored condition with no rust, pitting, breaks, cracks, or damage.
